EPA Offering Auto Refinishing Webcast

7/24/2008 8:13:28 AM

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will release a one-hour Webcast on the 2008 Auto Body Rule and Collision Repair Campaign on July 28 at 1 p.m., EDT. Targeted at state and local agencies that work directly with paint stripping and surface coating operations, the Webcast will focus on environmental concerns related to collision repair shops and will feature Holly Wilson, the leader of the Community Air Program for the EPA’s Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards.

The Collision Repair Campaign is a nationwide effort aiming to decrease harmful human and environmental exposure to hazardous air pollutants, volatile organic compounds and particulate matter emissions, and the EPA hopes that training body shops will reduce the release of toxic material into the air. The campaign also will provide information about the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants. The Automotive Service Association (ASA) worked with the EPA in the various stages of its auto refinishing regulation.
